Description

Chemical Process Engineer - County Waterford. Purpose of the role: This Process & Equipment Engineering role is required to design, develop, implement and support manufacturing systems related to the handling of liquid chemicals. Responsibilities include: • Identify, design, develop and implement process and equipment innovations and improvements. • Prepare and present the business case for change. • Use appropriate engineering techniques to manage projects, gather and analyse data e.g. six sigma methods. • Implement equipment changes with minimal impact on day-to-day operations. • Prepare, maintain and communicate project plans to relevant stakeholders. • Prepare appropriate documentation (e.g. user requirements, design specifications, validation protocols) for equipment and system upgrades. • Develop a technical understanding of the process and automation systems concerning liquid and chemical processing and share that technical expertise with colleagues by formal and informal methods. • Fault-find/troubleshoot equipment and process issues when required. • Install and validate equipment and automation systems for processing liquids and chemicals. • Implement improvements under the quality system change control mechanisms. • Write documentation and SOPs/ WIs associated with equipment or process systems as required. • Present technical data to internal/external audit and inspection groups. • Work with Procurement and Logistics groups on the control of equipment spares. • Ensure all work is executed in line with health and safety and quality system requirements. • Complete Quality and Safety CAPAs as required. • Adhere to Health and Safety Regulations and Procedures. Key cGMP responsibilities: • Be familiar with 21 CFR part 820 guidelines. • Follow Personal Hygiene Rules as defined in the GMP Training Program and notify area supervision of any health conditions which may affect the quality of product. • Participate fully in all GMP and operational training programs and complete all Training Records in an accurate and timely manner. Qualifications and Experience Sought : BEng in Chemical Engineering or similar. • A minimum of 3 years in a technical role with liquid/ chemical processing and volumetric and gravimetric controls. • Pharmaceutical or medical device industry experience preferred. • Experience working in a validated environment with strong discipline in change control is preferred. • Knowledge of automatic measurement and reporting of OEE and related production data would be advantageous.
