Reporting to the Unit Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: The support, maintenance and administration of all IT services and equipment operated by Campus Services. Installation of new hardware and software when required. Supervision, training and rostering of other IT staff. System maintenance and troubleshooting of all Campus Services IT related services including printing, photocopying, access control, point of sale and any other applications, etc. Implementation of a maintenance log. Implementation of preventive maintenance procedures for all systems. Setup of IT equipment for functions/events. Servicing of IT equipment (hardware and software, when required. Back up procedures for all systems – company data volume. Support and maintenance of Campus Services virtualised IT infrastructure (VM’s and hosting environment. Support and maintenance of the Campus Access Control System, managing the system and ensuring that correct access is given in line with the policy. Liaise with WIT regarding such issues. Responsible for the implementation of the asset tagging system for all Campus Services equipment and ensure it is updated and entered into the database. Support of the point of sale system used in the Campus bar, restaurants and the WIT Arena. Ensure all IT services are monitored and maintained in line with industry best practices. Installation of new applications when necessary (i.e. power and network. Website updates when required. Research of new hardware and software when required and obtaining quotations for same. Assist with other projects when requested i.e. Campus Company related projects. To undertake such other duties that may be assigned from time to time. SKILLS REQUIRED. Knowledge of computer networking and internet dynamics in relation to SOAP, HTTP, internet network analysis etc. Programming skills are an advantage (C/C++/Java. Database administration and troubleshooting (SQL querying, Oracle. Windows operating system administration. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: JUNIOR IT SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN. The successful candidate must have a degree in Software Development, IT or Computing with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a relevant environment. Strong communication, problem-solving, time management and organisation skills are essential.
