WIT Diverse Campus Services CLG at Waterford Institute of Technology (Trading as WIT Novus) JOB ADVERT TITLE: Systems Engineer REPORTING TO: Unit Manager Main Responsibilities : Reporting to the Unit Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: · Support and maintenance of the company IT infrastructure. · Provision and configuration of all company server systems including locally hosted systems and future cloud implementation. The candidate should have a good working knowledge of Windows server systems, including server core, Hyper-V, and failover clustering. Knowledge of associated networking and storage techniques for service provision is necessary. · Support of IT systems located across all Waterford Institute of Technology educational campuses including the WIT Arena which incorporates the following: The WITCard system, Payroll and Time & Attendance Systems, Access Control, Point of Sale, WIT Arena Membership System, Print and Copy and the associated business functions of the organisation. · Familiarity with PowerShell, SQL server, HTML, PHP, CSS, and JavaScript is an advantage. · Knowledge of web hosting, server, and web certificates, X509, pem, site binding, web security. · Check, monitor and evaluate system backup procedures and restore as a primary function for maintaining IT infrastructure and resilience. · Provision and support of remote working systems for company employees for out of office connectivity. · Completion of IT projects from the research and design phase right through to implementation and support. Conduct site evaluations when requested. · Delegation of tasks for handling IT helpdesk requests for support. · Troubleshoot network and server issues. · Provide technical support to all company operation units and employees. · Responsible for software and hardware installation, servicing, and maintenance prevention procedures for all IT systems. · Configuration and end-user support on various smart card hardware and other hardware as assigned. · Setup of IT equipment for functions and events. · Liaising with system providers to full-fill contract obligations including support and maintenance, system upgrades, checks, problem resolution, etc. · Any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time. Qualifications & Experience: Essential: The successful candidate will hold a degree in Software Development, IT or Computing with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar environment. Desirable: Experience in MCSA CCNA or COMPTIA. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving, time management and organisation skills are essential. Skillset Required: · Microsoft server products, provision, install and maintenance. · Server hardware install, power, networking, and infrastructure config. · Powershell and server core. · SQL Server, postgre SQL. · HTML, PHP, CSS, and JavaScript.
